b. 1971 / MARK LALIBERTE is a practicing visual artist currently working in the mediums of photography, collage, illustration, and computer-based sound composition. Since beginning his professional career, he has exhibited and performed extensively in galleries across Canada and the USA.

1990_ gained notoriety by becoming the first (and only) person in Canada to ever have been charged with five counts of obscenity for publishing before reaching the age of 21; his fanzine Headtrip (For The Tainted Intellectual) has since been cleared of all charges in a court of law in a precedent-setting obscenity battle that has been hailed as a victory for freedom of expression throughout the country

1995_ graduated with a BFA from the University Of Windsor where he majored in multi-media & photography

1996_ began exhibiting in galleries across Canada / also worked assisting on large scale photo-projects for 'The Stratford Festival' and 'The National Ballet of Canada'

1998_ founding member of Thinkbox media arts collective, a unit of collaborators working exclusively on sound + video based artworks and performances.

2000_ in association with his 'Pillow Scenes' series, a CD of soundworks was released in an edition of 500 by the Thames Art Gallery (THINK001CD).

2001_ hired as Artistic Coordinator of Artcite Inc, Windsor's Artist-Run Centre for the Contemporary Arts

2002_ Thinkbox released first collective CD 'Editions 01: Settings' (THINK002CD) & performed at the Movement Festival

2003_ relocated to Guelph for an MFA degree @ the University of Guelph

2005_
currently resides in Toronto; currently Managing Editor for both Descant Magazine and Carousel Magazine
